In January 2001 in response to the foreseeable expansion of the Tensile Membrane Industry the Light Weight Structures Advisory Service was established. Our team of specialist Tensile Designers and Engineers combine cutting edge technology with past hands on experience with fabric, steel and project installation. This combination of specialist skills and creativity allows our company to be outcomes based in our approach to delivering value in our design and engineering documentation for Tensile Projects. Trevor Scott
LTWSAS is founded on Trevor Scott's understanding of the Shade Industry and his working knowledge of the professional services required (within the industry) by Shade Manufacturers, Builders and Architects. This professional knowledge has been developed over a working lifetime but more specifically over the past twelve years in his roles as Managing Director of LTWSAS (2001 - 2004) and previously in the role of General Manager of a major Australian Shade Manufacturing and Distribution Company (1992 - 2001). In these positions Trevor has both influenced and witnessed the evolution of the Shade Industry from its Infancy in the early 1990's to the mature highly innovative market place it resembles today.
Trevor's knowledge of steel fabrication, custom designed steel componentry and the building industry was developed in his youth whilst growing up in an innovative culture of machinery invention, product development and application. This coupled with a passion for life long learning, extensive training with cutting edge ‘Industry Specific’ software packages and close alliance with Industry Engineering Professionals has served him well in meeting the needs of the contemporary Light Weight Structures Industry/Shade Industry.
Trevor has had an extensive amount of practical experience within the Shade Industry having been directly or indirectly involved in the manufacture and installation of over 12,000 shade structures (PVC vinyl and shade fabric). Shade projects have varied in size from 12 sq mt shade sails to 5062 sq mt shopping center car parks.
Having a sound technical background and being confronted with such a diverse range of projects Trevor has been exposed to every conceivable problem relating to the design, engineering, manufacture and installation aspects of the shade industry (both ‘Free Form’ PVC architecture – Tensile Membranes and Shade Cloth). This vast experience has provided Trevor with a logical sense of problem solving.
Furthermore having worked with commercial and residential builders for the past two decades Trevor has gained a substantial insight into the operations and politics of the Construction Site. Trevor has the necessary experience to successfully Project Manage construction on major Light Weight Structures Projects on time and on budget.
Jeremy Hunter
Jeremy is a Chartered Professional Engineer with National registration, specific state registrations with Victoria and Northern Territory and holds Corporate membership of the Institution of Engineers Australia. Graduating from Melbourne in 1972 Jeremy has been involved in a diverse range of engineering activities mainly in the capacity as a consultant to the building fraternity. Owning and operating a design/construct business for a number of years gave Jeremy a hands on approach and an appreciation of the complexities of building in practice. Since 1990 Jeremy has been working with the Light Weight Structures Product (tension membrane structures) gaining experience in the specialized ‘flexible dynamics’ that typifies design in the Light Weight Structures Industry. Over the past fourteen years Jeremy’s knowledge of Light Weight Structures has been developed not only through academia but through on-going negotiations with Architects, Specialist Fabricators and Builders who make use of his expertise in engineered product design.
