The Australian Pro Tour of Wakeboarding (APTW) is the peak contest series for wakeboarding in the southern hemisphere, having earned international respect and praise for the Tour's integrity and broad appeal in its inaugural 2003 season. There have been three seperate winners over the past 5 years, after Daniel Watkins dominated for the first three years of the competition. Jeff Weatherall finally outdid Daniel in 2006, only to be overshadowed by Dean Smith in 2007. Go To Website
2006 saw the introduction of the APTW Womens devision, and this aspect of the Pro Tour has grown with each stop as more and more female talent has emerged. This year the APTW will introduce another devision: the WWAA Junior Advance Series proudly supported by Boarder Magazine. This will see the hottest young talent riding at the same events as the professional riders and competing for a spot on in an elite 6 squad that will be chosen at the end of the Pro Tour.
The APTW has featured in numerous locations across Australia. The 2008 season is the first time the Pro Tour plans to go abroad. The third stop of this season is to be played out at Hamilton, New Zealand.
The tour has featured some of the most respected riders in International wakeboarding. The likes of Daniel Watkins, Brett Eisenhauer, Josh Sanders, Keith Lyman, Chris O'Shea, Jeff Weatherall, Keith Lidberg, Scotty Broome, The Mackey Brothers, Shawn Watson, Gabe Lucas, and of course Dean Smith are either still or have previously been a part of the Australian Pro Tour of Wakeboarding. |
