Suncoast Internet - Complete Website Solutions

New RSL Website Up and Running

The "new" Maroochy RSL website is up and running just in time for the completion of major renovations that have taken place over the past twelve months to the club. Although some of the RSL upgrade is yet to be completed – expected completion in June/July – most of the improvements are in place.

A new conference centre and multi-purpose function room is at the hub of the RSL renovations and this centre will accommodate up to 500 patrons with the option to divide into 4 smaller rooms to allow for multiple events such as private functions, conferences, trade shows/exhibitions, as well as entertainment. New bars and lounges; a new kid’s play centre called Mystery Island Kids Club that has a variety of activities like rock climbing and a cinema, as well as a whole range of kid’s activities; and a new foyer to welcome members and guests are just some of the renovations to this Sunshine Coast icon.

Of course the pokies, bingo, poker, sports bar, restaurant, bistro and pool room are operating as normal, but you can discover all what’s going on at the Maroochy RSL by visiting their "brand new" website at www.maroochyrsl.com.au Or even better, get yourself along to the Memorial Avenue venue and see for yourself. And while you’re there get $5.50 out of your pocket and take out membership of this fantastic club that provides free entertainment and plenty of great member benefits.

“We Love Pat Mesiti”

Who wants to be motivated?

If you work for Suncoast Internet you will have no choice but to hear our team leaders ranting on about the power of positive thinking and “Mr Motivation” himself, Pat Mesiti.

They think the sun shines out of his receding hairline and after attending his Kickstart Conference they bombarded the rest of us with how effective a speaker and motivator he is. As the rest of us did not get an invitation we can only grunt in acknowledgement and hope the attraction passes without further ado.

But no! We are constantly reminded day-in-day-out of this individual’s sense of humour, his passion, and his ability to empower people to produce results. And, just for good measure we were obliged to watch his promotional video and listen to his values and beliefs, which can be summed up in one sentence.

“My philosophy for successful business is simple – your mind is the most valuable asset you have.”

To get our own back we have designed “We Love Pat” placards for our team leaders to wave the next time they venture to one of “Mr Motivation’s” performances.

Hopefully the other speakers at the Kickstart Conference, Peter Miller, Amanda Stevens, Jennie Armato, Rick Otto, Declan Barnett and Daniel Kertcher, won’t take offence by the “We Love Pat” placards.

Now don’t get me wrong, motivational speakers have their place. I’ve heard a few in my time, including Richard DeVos and Jay Van Andel, co-founders of Amway. Sure, they do motivate and they speak a lot of sense. But if it is that easy why haven’t we got more millionaires than you can poke a stick at?

Could it be because they haven’t attended a Pat Mesiti motivational conference yet?

We build websites with style

When you’ve sheared 200 sheep in a day, flown helicopters over vast terrains and under power lines at breakneck speed and run a thriving taxi company for a living, then starting a web development business could be seen as a picnic by comparison.

Well, CEO of Suncoast Internet, Andrew Plimmer, has been there, done that, got the t-shirt and a few worry beads along the way. But even he admits that running a web development business is not as easy as it appears.

In fact Andrew says the past five years developing Suncoast Internet has been a lot tougher on his equilibrium than all the other “jobs” put together.

“Sheep are easy to deal with once you know how and so is flying a helicopter metres above the ground once you know how. Likewise, ferrying people from one place to another is also easy when you know the routes.
“But web development is forever changing to meet with the constant variables the Internet demands and this means we have to keep adapting and learning new methods to stay ahead of the development pack,” said Andrew.

“This is by far the toughest gig I’ve ever been involved with, but I relish the opportunity to meet these demands and those of our clients, and maybe even surprise a few with our grasp of this ever changing technology,” he said.

Andrew believes the Internet is a vast market place where you need to have an attractive and easy to use website, along with effective search engine marketing, to get noticed by shoppers.

“Anyone can set up shop, but doing it with style sets you apart from the rest. That’s why Suncoast Internet is so successful because we build websites with style.”

Go Suncoast Girls!

In a male dominated industry such as IT, Suncoast Internet is proud of its fine ratio of girls to boys amongst its staff. Currently, it’s believed that only 15-20 percent of Australia’s IT workforce are women. In the UK it’s even lower.

While many women in IT find it to be rewarding and satisfying career, the reasons women give for leaving the industry are to do with age old inequalities such as work/life balance, wage and social discrimination.

But at Suncoast Internet, the fact is that 67 percent of the full time staff on site is women. That’s more than three times the national average! Recently joining the Suncoast team, programmer extraordinaire Megan Cotton from Megabits says “I’ve never worked in an environment where there was more than one other female programmer”.

The ladies at Suncoast Internet have a number of varied roles, including training, search engine optimisation, web design and development, as well as admin and sales.

With the news that there has been a staggering 51 percent decline in the number of women studying IT in Australia since 2001, it seems Suncoast Internet’s unusual staffing structure will remain unique for some time to come.

But while the girls are happy not to be discriminated against by men in the IT workplace for a change, spare a thought for those poor blokes. Professional copywriter Alan Lunday complains that he didn’t get the chance to choose his office uniform, unlike the girls who got the opportunity to try on several different kinds recently!

Good morning team

My name is Andrew from Suncoast Internet. The best place to find us is online at suncoastinternet.com.au or alternatively our offices are located at 155 Horton Parade up stairs from the Adult Shop. This is why our office is always BUZZING!

Understandably many people don’t understand the money making potential of the Internet! Whilst there are literally billions of websites online, a very large percentage of them are not so good and consequently sit idle, this being the case it’s not as competitive as you might think.

Building a business online can be very rewarding and a great way to create an income.

An ideal referral this week is Jane (34) a stay at home mum whom wants to invest time into creating a secondary income for herself and her family.

What is BNI?

BNI is a business referral organisation whose primary purpose is to assist its members to find and exchange qualified business referrals for each other and develop word-of-mouth marketing techniques.

Unlike other networking groups, BNI provides its members with a professional structure and an ongoing training system which enables members to network in a deliberate manner as well as constantly update their referral marketing skills.

Rapid growth has seen BNI become the world’s largest business referral organisation of its kind, with over 5,221 chapters in 40 countries, and more than 110,078 members.

Last year members of BNI in Australia generated business referrals that resulted in more than $70 million in new business. (In that same period BNI wordwide passed over 4.9 million referrals, this translates to over A$2.25 billion of business).

Some participants have added as many as 50 new clients in the first 2 years! Successful businesses depend on word of mouth because it is the best advertising there is.

BNI provides a structured and supportive system of giving and receiving business. It does this by providing an environment in which personal relationships can be developed with dozens of other qualified business professionals. By establishing this ‘formal’ relationship with other people, each member has the opportunity to substantially increase his or her business.

It’s a dog’s life

Any visitors to Suncoast Internet’s office will already be familiar with Google the office poodle. As the smallest member of the admin staff, our little woolly friend’s day consists of a busy whirl of meeting and greeting. And when he’s not barking ferociously at the police dogs across the way (from behind the safety of an upstairs window), he’s offering the additional services of Winnie the Pooh and Super Bear to any obliging clients. It really is quite amazing how large and soppy those poodle eyes can become at the merest whiff of food; Google’s nose and paws are a permanent fixture at the lunch table where he enjoys eating anything that humans eat – as long as it’s not a vegetable. Google’s office duties also include toe licking, going for walkies and rearranging paperwork from the waste bin to the… er… floor. If you would like to meet Google in person, you will find him either tucked under the counter of the reception desk or keeping watch next to the front door. You can be sure of an enthusiastic  welcome – just don’t wear any thongs!

Australia’s next top model?

Calling all glossy magazines – the Suncoast Internet ladies are getting ready for their photo shoot next week! In preparation for Suncoast Internet’s new corporate brochure, the team are having a photo session with a professional photographer. The brochure will undoubtedly show off the fine ratio of women to men that Suncoast Internet is proud to have; an unusual proportion in the IT industry. Unfortunately this means that the menfolk are currently putting up with a lot of fretting in the office over how the impending glamour shots will turn out. And the latest rumblings are that the graphic designer may well be employed to airbrush any imperfections. Ready for your close up now? Only if you’ve got a hairdresser with you…
